Fee Increases - Effective Tuesday, February 16, 2010

  •      Nutrition Lunch suggested contribution will increase to $2.50
  •      Transportation suggested contribution will increase to .50¢ one way.
  •      Spring class fees will increase for most classes:
     4 week class             $3 Resident        $10 Non-Resident
     8 week class             $5 Resident        $25 Non-Resident

The White Plains Senior Center is conveniently located on the first floor of the historical Armory Plaza in downtown White Plains. There are numerous multi-purpose activity rooms all on one floor. Metered parking is available on Mitchell Place or in the City Center Parking Garage located on Martine Ave and Main Street.

The White Plains Senior Center Café Program and Transportation/Supportive Services are partially funded through the US Department of Health and Human Services, the New York State Office for the Aging and the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services.

Membership-Join Us!
White Plains residents 60 years old and up qualify to participate in Senior Center classes, programs and services. To become a member you must show proof of residency and complete our membership form. Registered members will be added to the mailing list to receive our Leisure Times brochure. Non-residents may attend the Center’s programs but will be charged a non–resident fee for some classes.

Recreation and Leisure Activities
Classes, trips, special programs and events, day and overnight trips are offered throughout the year.


Senior Café Program
The Senior Café serves a delicious, nutritious hot or cold lunch daily from 11:30am–noon for a $2 suggested contribution. To reserve a meal you must call 422-1352 by noon the day before you plan to attend.

Thrifty Boutique Shop
Help sponsor senior programs, by donating your unused items to the shop.
Open Monday through Friday from 10am – 2:30pm.


International Farmer’s Market (opens in June)
The Senior Center bus will drop you off on the 9am daily run. The bus will pick you up from the Market at approximately 10:30am and return to the Center, not your home. For a ride home you must make a reservation for the 1pm bus leaving from the Center.

Transportation
Service is available, door to door, to and from your home. Reservations can be made for a week at a time, either by phone or walk-in. You must be a registered member to use the service. Fee is a 25¢ suggested contribution per one-way service. For reservation call 422-1423ly

How to Register
Registrations made in person are accepted on a first – come – first served basis. Space availability is based on room or bus capacity. Spaces are limited, so register early! For classes, checks are payable to the City of White Plains. For trips and events, checks are payable to the

White Plains Senior Advisory Board. For all programs, please use separate checks for each activity.

Notice: The Department of Recreation & Parks Senior Center reserves the right to cancel or adjust fees prior to the actual starting date.

Cancellations in case of inclement weather will be announced on the Recreation & Parks Hotline 422-1338, and on radio station WHUD FM 100.7.

REFUND POLICY *********************
Refunds are issued only for the following reasons:

For classes, a refund request because of illness or accident must be submitted in writing and accompanied by a doctor’s note. Refunds will be prorated based on the date received with a 10% service charge.

For trips and events, a partial refund may be possible with trips involving lunch, otherwise there are NO refunds unless your cancellation is filled.

For any programs cancelled by the Department of Recreation & Parks Senior Center, a full refund will be issued.

Recreation ID cards
Resident ID cards needed for Pools & Tennis Courts.

Resident ID cards are issued on an annual basis, and can be obtained in person upon presenting two acceptable proofs of residency at the Recreation Administration Office at 85 Gedney Way.

Recreation ID card fees:
Adult (18 to 69). . . . . . . . Initial: $10, Renewal: $8

Adult (Ages 70 & up) . . . . Lifetime: $10

Lost Card . . . . . . . . . . . . Replacement Fee: $10
