Schools Open - Drive Carefully August 26, 2010 The new school year will begin in September and the City of White Plains Police Department would like to call the public’s attention to some safety tips. -Slow down near schools and in residential areas. -Drive with your headlights on - even during the day - so children and other drivers can see your car more easily. -Look for clues such as AAA School Safety Posters, bicycles and playgrounds that indicate children could be in the area. -Scan between parked cars and other objects that could obscure your line of sight, for signs of children. -Be extra cautious in bad weather as it takes much longer to stop a car. -Always stop for school buses that are loading and unloading students. |
